Your answers stay on your device
PlainWISP builds your document in your web browser. The answers you type (firm details, staff names, systems, contacts) are processed on your device and are never sent to us or stored on our servers. By default your progress is kept only in this browser tab (session storage) and is deleted when you close the tab. If you turn on autosave, your progress is saved in your browser's local storage on this device until you press "Clear my data" or clear your browser; don't turn it on for a shared computer. If you choose memory-only mode, nothing is written to browser storage and your answers are gone when you close or reload the tab. You can also download a save file to resume later. That file is stored wherever you put it, is not encrypted, and contains details about your practice, so keep it somewhere safe. When you open a save file, it is read inside your browser and is not uploaded.
Website hosting
Our site is hosted by Cloudflare. When you load a page, Cloudflare processes technical information such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested, and the date and time, in order to deliver the site and protect it from attacks. Cloudflare handles this as our service provider under its own privacy policy and data processing terms, and keeps it according to its own retention criteria. We have not turned on Cloudflare features that would store request logs for us (log export or persistent logging). Our payment endpoints do not record what you send them.
Payment
Your one-time payment is handled by Stripe: its hosted checkout page and the receipt it emails you. There is no subscription and no automatic charge. Stripe collects and holds your name, email address, card details, billing address, receipts and fraud-prevention data under its own privacy policy. We never receive your full card number, and we do not send your wizard answers to Stripe. If you open the site with a source tag in the address (src), or this tab already has one, we keep that tag in this browser tab's session storage and send it to Stripe when you start checkout. Stripe stores it as metadata and as the checkout client reference. The tag is a short label of letters, numbers and hyphens, such as a channel name. It is not your questionnaire answers. Closing the tab, or clearing this site's data, removes the tag from the browser. We can view your Stripe payment details in our Stripe account to provide support, handle refunds and disputes, and keep accounting records, but we do not copy your email address or card details into our own systems.
What we keep, and for how long
Our own database holds no names, emails or wizard answers. It holds only these records:
- Purchase record, kept while your license is in use, until you ask us to delete it: the Stripe payment and checkout identifiers; the first few characters of your license key, so support can find your purchase; a one-way hash of your license key, which cannot be turned back into the key; your plan; your purchase date, update-expiry date (12 months after purchase) and the template version your key is pinned to; and refund and dispute status.
- Payment references and terms acceptance: the Stripe payment and charge identifiers, amount, date and plan, plus your terms acceptance record (the terms version you agreed to, when, and the checkout identifier), kept for 7 years for tax, accounting and to show which terms applied to your purchase. Stripe is the system of record for your payment.
- Dispute records: kept for 18 months after the dispute closes.
- One-time links and unlock codes: they expire within 30 minutes and are deleted within 7 days.
- Stripe event identifiers (used so each payment event is processed only once): kept for 30 days.
- Rate-limit counters that block repeated guessing: keyed by a one-way hash of your IP address that we cannot read back, and deleted within about an hour.
- Admin audit logs of support actions such as key reissues: kept for 12 months, with no customer data.
Lost license keys
If you ask for a replacement license key, our support team looks up the email address Stripe holds for your purchase and sends a one-time link to it from our support mailbox. The address is not copied into our database; the sent message stays in our support mailbox as described under "Emails".
Emails
Email sent to support@plainwisp.com is received in our Google Workspace support mailbox. We use your message to reply and to provide support, and we keep support emails for 2 years.
Analytics, advertising and cookies
When this site is built with a Cloudflare Web Analytics token, pages include that cookieless beacon. It produces aggregate page counts. It does not set a cookie and it does not receive your questionnaire answers. If the token is not set, the beacon is left out. We do not use advertising, session-recording or error-reporting tools. The site sets no cookies.
Sharing
We do not sell personal information or share it for advertising. We disclose it only to Stripe (payment processing), Cloudflare (hosting and security) and Google Workspace (our support mailbox), or when the law requires.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to access or delete the personal information we hold by emailing support@plainwisp.com. We respond within 30 days. Deleting your purchase record removes the hash of your license key, after which we can no longer reissue your key. We keep the payment references and terms acceptance record described above for 7 years, and other records only for the periods listed. Your wizard answers are on your device, and only you can delete them.
Children
The service is for businesses and is not directed to children under 13.
